I sent you a message but since you said others might be interested… do cephalopods enjoy being touched and/or petted?

Thanks for asking! Almost all cephalopods DEFINITELY don’t like being touched.  Cephalopods have super delicate skin so petting them can do major damage by accident. That being said, some octopuses enjoy petting people. They’re a handsy bunch and experience the world by touching everything and tasting it with their suckers!  I like reminding people that they shouldn’t pet the cephalopods, they should let the cephalopods pet them (but be careful of the beaks!)

Rats are so easy to please. I shoved some sweet potato into cardboard toilet paper tubes, packed in with shredded paper towels. At first they were just excited about the paper towel shreds and started making a nest, then they found the sweet potato and lost their minds. Like they couldn’t believe what a good and gracious world they lived in that there could be sweet potato and paper towel at the same time.
