◇Wanted to get a statement from Social Security today, so I called a taxi because I didn’t trust the bus to get me there before they closed at 4

◇The last time I called this cab company was in June, on an occasion where they proceeded to lose my pickup info and almost made me miss Shadow’s vet appointment because they forgot to come get us, then made their driver grovel and beg forgiveness for the scheduling fuckup

◇Today’s phone coordinator says the cab will be there by 2:30

◇It’s 3:45 and nobody’s showed up

◇I call them again

◇"Ohhhhh! I told him to go by there, I guess he forgot. He’ll be there in 2 minutes"

◇Dude finally pulls up

◇No apology, drinking a McDonald’s soda, says he bets the bus drivers don’t even show up when I call them because of how bad the streets are in my neighborhood

◇The inside of the cab reeks

◇We get to the Social Security building, I get out and walk up to the door

◇It’s locked

◇They close at noon on Wednesday

◇Dude drives off just as I’m turning to leave

◇Mom gets off work early to pick me up

◇Government employee walks up to us

◇We explain that the apartment I’m trying to move to won’t take me until I get a letter from them proving my income, that the phone service they use has been busy and unresponsive for two weeks, that their website froze when I tried to make an account and that I genuinely need a letter from them to get on with my life

◇Guy listens carefully, then tells me to call their (broken!) phone line some more

◇I paid $6 to sit in a stinky cab for 3 minutes so I could be turned away because I showed up on a paperwork day

Watching EarthBound Let’s Plays makes me miss my old friends.

A really close friend of mine from high school was super into the Mother series and she introduced me and another friend to it, and as a result I’m deeply emotionally connected to it even though I’ve never played the games all the way through on my own.

I still blame myself for losing contact with them, and whenever I’m reminded of how things were when we were 12 I get depressed.
