(my whole Patreon gimmick is “I will buy several small hats for my ferret, please, please, this is so important”, so the rest of the shoot is a patron treat)
Hag stones, also known as Holey Stones or Witch Stones, are stones that have a naturally occurring hole and are usually found near oceans and other bodies of water. They are said to be powerful protection talismans, and when worn or carried they protect the bearer from curses, hexes, negative spirits, and harm. They have also been used to prevent nightmares, being strung on a bedpost or placed underneath pillows. It is also believed that if you peer through the hole of the stone that you can see the Fae Folk and otherworldly entities. If one broke, it is thought to have used its power to protect a life.
in russian these are called chicken gods just thought you guys might wanna know
They’re called chicken gods in German too.
Apparently German borrowed the Slavic tradition of protecting henhouses with broken or imperfect objects?, which is fascinating in its own right, because when we find those things on archaeological digs experts are always like, ‘Yes yes, this was ritually broken, please observe this tiny line right here’ and okay, breaking things is generally satisfying af, but also – it’s so damn hard making things in the first place, to me there’ll always be an ‘oh, haven’t you heard?’ element to this, a kind of ‘Okay, I did break Aunt
Miluša’s pitcher and I’m very sorry, but on the bright side we can use it to ward off demons now’.
“i am a monument to all your sins” is such a fucking raw line for a villain it’s amazing that it came from halo, a modernish video game, and not some classical text or mythos
classic texts have nothing on the crazy people come up with in modern times tbh
“I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me.”
– Joshua Graham, Who Is A Fallout New Vegas NPC, Something Most People Throwing This Quote Around Don’t Realize
“If the world chooses to become my enemy, I will fight like I always have.”
– Shadow the Hedgehog in what is widely considered one of if not the single worst game in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise
this is the source for this text and it haunts me on a regular basis
For artists who have problems with perspective (furniture etc.) in indoor scenes like me – there’s an online programm called roomsketcher where you can design a house/roon and snap pictures of it using different perspectives.
It’s got an almost endless range of furniture, doors, windows, stairs etc and is easy to use. In addition to that, you don’t have to install anything and if you create an account (which is free) you can save and return to your houses.
Examples (all done by me):
Here’s an example for how you can use it
Great find, thanks!
OMG HEAVEN!!
Bless you!!!!
Very nice resource for those looking to improve their perspective, composition, and background rendering skills!
