Shadow died today. She was only 8 years old.

She never even got to see the apartments. I thought she’d like sitting on the windowsill.

Shadow had been sick for the past few weeks, sneezing and wheezing from what seemed like a relapse of a sinus infection she’d had earlier in the summer. She developed an eye infection a couple of days ago, and I was going to call the vet tomorrow.

She died at 8:30 p.m. tonight.

I found her in the bathroom in the evening, unable to walk or support herself. When I picked her up, she started screaming in a low, raspy howl. Her mouth started to open and close. I brought her downstairs while I got the phone, but she faded so quickly. She jerked and spasmed on the kitchen floor, and in less than five minutes she was gone.

I am completely numb. I don’t know what to do. I flip between sitting silently in complete detachment and sobbing and crying once I realize that she’s dead and I’m never going to see her again.

I loved her so much and now she’s gone. I feel like it was my fault.

Pet naming

I am a simple person and I name my pets all after food. My white cat is Sushi my birds are Cinnamon (short for Cinnamon Toast Crunch) and Fruitloop

This is Sushi. He’s named Sushi because he’s white like rice and his collar is his wasabi!

Reblog and tell me your pet names and if they have a reason! Include pics if you want!

all of the comments on this post are a blessing

Sunshine, I adopted her and her name was already sunshine and I don’t change names, but it’s kinda cool because I adopted her to be my emotional support animal so “Sunshine” is pretty fun coincidence

One Eye, because he has one eye. Also known as “mister” or “hey mister”. Also pictured: Legs

Lilac was born in May, i.e. “when the lilacs bloomed”. Shadow came to me already named, but seeing as she has dark gray fur that makes her almost impossible to see in an unlit hallway at night, it’s still fitting.

There’s a kid crying in the street right under my window and Lilac is Having A Holler because I gave her a mouse to play with so in my left ear I’m hearing high-pitched sobbing and in my right ear I’m hearing a screaming cat
